Overview

The Internet is an integral part of modern life. It is a key component in education, communication, collaboration, business, entertainment, civic life and society as a whole.

As the net grows in importance, the ability to fluently participate in society via the net will become essential.

This workshop will help activists and educators working in fields related to consumer awareness, media studies, literacy understand:

  • what is net literacy? how do participation and openness fit in?
  • how a free and open net is being used to positively transform society
  • key challenges and benefits of net literacy
  • how to effectively integrate the net and net literacy studies into their existing work

The idea is to give people conceptual tools and practical skills they can use with the communities they serve.
