  • Data to collect: Frequency of users seeing the malware anti-phishing page

Introduction

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/phishing-protection/ has info about the malware protection feature in firefox. it would be great to understand better how many people try to visit sites that we consider unsafe, and then what the user response is when they see the the page that blocks access to bad sites (example of what users see is at http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/its-a-trap.html ). The three responses here might be [why was this site blocked] and/or [get me out of here] or [ignore this warning]

Details

We wouldn't need to know the sites involved for some basic information, but that might be an additional piece of information the users might want to send as an option.

With the basic information of number of occurrences seen where sites are blocked, and the user response to the warning page we would get a better understanding of how visible to users, if they understand what is going on, and possiblely the effectiveness of the phishing and anti-malware service.

We might want to aggregate the response with the number of times the user has seen the warning on that particular page/domain, and also in general.
