Story

  • What have we done so far:
    • Shipped bare minimum MVP for Webmaker Super Mentor, Mentor and Hive Contributor badges. Plus new "Minimum Viable Contributor" badges. And Web Literacy badges (live on prod, though not easily discoverable).
    • We're currently victims of our own success. The MVC badges and others are *working* -- but that has exposed lots of paper-cuts in the process. And created a bottleneck for admins who need to review and issue all those badges.
  • What do we need to tackle next:
    • 1) Better issuing. Making it easier for admins to clear through backlog and provide great customer service.
    • 2) Better badge receiver/applicant experience. Better emails, celebrating, sharing, etc.
    • 3) Badge value. Adding value to the badges once users receive them.
    • 4) Overall UX. Better discoverability on Webmaker.org. Fully integrating badges into the product, resources section, etc.
    • 5) Metrics. Data, tracking. Optimizing claim codes. What is the badge issuing, applying, claiming data telling us?
