MANAGED
DRAFT
This page is a work-in-progress intended for review. Direct editing of this page is discouraged. Please help improve the draft by asking questions or making suggestions on the discussion page.

The Question

The 2010 Goals project is about answering the question of:

What can Mozilla do with our products and our product development processes to move the Internet toward our vision of an open, decentralized, participatory place in the next two years?

Read or participate in discussions on The Question

Getting Involved

Short introduction to getting involved, etc.

Process

A group of coordinators will be working the broad Mozilla community to discuss what goals best answer the above question.

As the discussions progress, the coordinators use this collection of wiki pages to:

  • archive the discussions that the broad Mozilla community has around this question
  • provide a condensed, easy-to-follow abstract of the process
  • collect information on what processes foster effective 2010 Goals discussions (for example: a set of suggestions for how to start the discussion, what kinds of questions get broad answers, which questions get narrow answers, etc.)

The actual discussions will happen in the usual channels used by the various Mozilla communities for discussing issues like the 2010 Goals.*

Timeline

A list of major discussions and summaries can be found on the 2010 Goals Timeline.

The 2010 Digest

Much of the current 2010 Goals process activity is focused on making it easier to follow the 2010 Goals discussion. The project coordinators are working out how to help get people involved, how to make the discussions easy to follow and participate in, etc. For previous activity, see the Timeline.

Read or participate in discussions on The 2010 Digest

Goals

These goals should be concrete enough that people can respond to them and provide a means for evaluating the scope of progress. Perhaps even more importantly, these goals should express important ideas rather than specifying implementation plans. They should set the directional, aspirational goals. They are intended to describe the type and scope of accomplishment we want to see.

The goals are grouped into categories below and have one dedicated page per goal.
