* Changed "Edit..." option to "Properties" and put it to the last place.
* I would consider removing the "Reload" option as it is usually exeuted only very few times. There should be an option somewhere to reload remote calendars (and it should be possible to reload calendars one by one!), but I think that this is no need including it in the context menu.

* No context menu exists, thus it would be useful
* New and Delete options are obvious
* Status: one has to be able to change status
* Hiding and showing completed tasks should be context sensitive
* Properties is same as "Edit"

Sunbird Menu Rework

With adding new features to Sunbird like Import and Export the File menu and the Calendar context menu got a little bit complex and inconsistent. Some commands are only offered from one of the menus or are labeled with different wording. [Bug 327912]

I would like to propose some changes with the following goals:

  • remove unnecessary commands
  • group related commands together
  • improve and unify wording

Proposal for File menu

CurrentProposal
----------------------------------
New Event...
New Task...
New Journal Item...
New Calendar File...
Open Calendar File...
Edit Selection...
Close Window
----------------------------------
Subscribe to Remote Calendar...
Reload Remote Calendars
----------------------------------
Import...
Export Selection...
Mail Selection...
Publish...
----------------------------------
Page Setup...
Print...
----------------------------------
Quit
----------------------------------
----------------------------------
New Event...
New Task...
New Calendar...
Open Calendar File...
Subscribe to Remote Calendar...
----------------------------------
Import from File...
Export Selection...
Export Entire Calendar...
Publish Selection...
Publish Entire Calendar...
----------------------------------
Page Setup...
Print...
----------------------------------
Close Window
Exit
----------------------------------

  • Removed currently not working entries 'New Journal Item' and 'Mail Selection'
  • I think 'Edit Selection...' does not belong to File menu. If we need an entry for this I would suggest putting it in the Edit menu.
  • Does 'Reload Remote Calendars' belong into File menu? Where could be a better place?
  • Do we need 'Close Window' in Sunbird?
    • I doubt. --Keria 06:40, 12 Mar 2006 (PST)
