While I love the map, I have a question here: don't you think that the drumbeat pinpoint is a bit too fat to pinpoint one single location? what if the density is way more than now?
About the Events date on the right, I think it's a bit misleading the way date are styled. At a first glance it seemed to me that bolded big numbers were participants. Then I realized that it was happening because Day number were formatted differently from the rest of the date.
Maybe it would also help to have an action button (like an arrow) to lead people clicking on event to discover more.

Agreed. Haven't changed it in mock-up, because this map is placeholder only -- we will control ourselves in My Google Maps and replace drums with simple push-pins
