Suggestions for original work
Pointers to existing projects we could sponsor / integrate / hack on
Parallels with addons.mozilla.org
My initial thoughts were about the parallels between a project like this and adons.mozilla.org, where we could possibly leverage the same community interest to fuel participation in the prototyping of new featuers, etc.
Getting People Involved
How would we get people excited about this stuff, and how would we get them to actively participate and give us feedback about what they like the most, and what sucks?
- Digg-like site for all prototypes
- These Digg-like results could help us gauge public interest
- Could we possibly use addons.mozilla.org as the outlet for testing these prototypes?
The Add-on Sandbox Idea
There was some previous discussion about the creation of a sandbox on AMO that would be used for testing beta/alpha add-ons with limited liability -- would prototypes fall into a similar area, where users (not mom-and-pop users) could download and try these prototypes, after acknowledging that these tests may be unstable and are just proofs of concept?
