June 5: Submissions deadline

In 2011 and 2012, Knight and Mozilla will pose a series of news technology challenges for designers, developers and "news hackers" around the world.

Challenge 1 – Unlocking Video

Explore how HTML5 and open video can make news video more engaging.
April 25-May 8: Submission period (extended to June 5!)

Challenge 2 –Beyond Comment Threads

How can open web tech improve the quality of online discourse?
May 9-22: Submission period (extended to June 5!)

Challenge 3 – Open Web Apps for People-Powered News

What should a news website look like in 2011 and beyond?
May 23-June 5: Submission period (extended to June 5!)
