Download Firefox for Android

Firefox for Android is now available. Please check the system requirements below to see if your device is compatible.

• Install Firefox from the Android Market web site
• or go to firefox.com/m in your phone's web browser.

(Or if you have a compatible device without Android Market access, download Firefox for Android directly from our FTP server at bit.ly/fxmobile. You will need to keep Firefox up to date yourself if you do not install it through the Market.)

To learn more about Firefox for Android, visit the Mozilla Mobile web site. You can also try out mobile Firefox on other platforms, including on your Mac, Windows, or Linux PC.

System Requirements

Firefox requires Android 2.1 or later and an ARMv7 processor. Installation requires about 17 MB internal or SD card storage. Firefox runs best on devices with at least 512 MB of RAM.

Known Issues

These are some of the bugs in the latest builds. We are working on fixing them.

Installation and Add-ons:

• Adobe Flash and other plugins are not supported yet (bug 630007).
• Starting the app for the first time takes a while while it installs some files and sets up a profile. Later startup times are much faster.

Performance and stability:

• Firefox causes the Motorola Droid to freeze completely when loading certain web sites, or at other random times (bug 602252).
• Firefox causes the Nexus S to freeze completely when loading certain web sites or opening many tabs (bug 624652, fixed in Android 2.3.3).
• Firefox's JIT compiler is disabled on Samsung Galaxy S phones running Android 2.1 because of a bug in their 2.1 kernel, making Firefox slower than on other devices. Galaxy S phones already running Android 2.2 "Froyo" are not affected. (bug 601222, bug 603624).

User Interface:

• Copy and Paste do not yet work for text in web pages (bug 661388, fixed in Firefox 7 (Nightly)).
• The SwiftKey keyboard crashes when used with Firefox (bug 617298, fixed in Firefox 5).

Download Firefox Beta

Install Firefox Beta if you want to help us test the next version of Firefox for Android.

Firefox Beta contains new features and changes that are ready for widespread testing before we include them in the next official Firefox release. You can install both Firefox and Firefox Beta at the same time if you want to use both versions.

Download instructions:

1. Check the system requirements below to see if Firefox Beta is compatible with your Android device.
2. Install Firefox Beta from the Android Market web site.

(Or if you have a compatible device without access to the Android Market, you can download the Firefox Beta directly from our FTP server. You will need to keep Firefox Beta updated yourself if you do not install it through the Android Market.)

Download Aurora

If you want to test or preview Firefox 7, you can download a build from the Aurora channel. If you want to, you can install Aurora alongside the official released version of Firefox, and use both on the same device.

The Aurora channel provides an early preview of the next Firefox Beta release. Although Aurora is more stable than our nightly development builds, it is not yet fully tested and is not the same quality as official beta or release versions. Aurora will offer to update itself automatically about once a day, as we make improvements available.

2. Download Aurora directly onto your Android device by scanning the barcode to the right, or by entering the URL in your device's web browser.
3. Open the "apk" file when it finishes downloading.

Aurora is not just for Android! You can also use the Aurora channel to preview Firefox for Windows/Mac/Linux.

Download Nightly

If you are actively developing or testing Firefox features that are not yet released to the Aurora or Beta channels, you can download a Nightly build. You may install and use Nightly alongside builds from other channels (Firefox, Beta, Aurora).

The nightly channel is a snapshot of our very latest development work, before it is ready for widespread testing. This is our least stable update channel, and is not recommended for most users. Nightly builds provide an early preview of work that will eventually be included in Firefox 7 or later. Nightly will offer to update itself automatically about once a day with the latest changes from our developers.

Download instructions:

1. Check the system requirements below to see if Nightly is compatible with your Android device.
2. Download the nightly build directly onto your Android device by scanning the barcode to the right, or by entering the URL in your device's web browser.

You can also test mobile Firefox nightly on other platforms, or get desktop Firefox nightly builds.

ARMv6 (experimental)

Sorry, the experimental ARMv6 builds are no longer available. They contained bugs that caused them to crash immediately, so they were no longer useful for testing.

While we'd like Firefox to run on as many phones as possible, we are focusing first on devices that can run current versions of Firefox with acceptable performance. As we improve Firefox's speed and memory use, it might become possible for us to support ARMv6 phones in the future, but we are not actively working on it now.
