Developing l10n-friendly: New features and old problems?

Summary

Features of Firefox should be of great quality in all our supported languages. I'd like to discuss the development of new features in an l10n-friendly way, from the specification, finding out the localizable aspects of a feature, where to put localizable code when, hooking up BD, up to setting up something to test for QA.

I'd hope to see engineers from the places and search teams, as well as Product, BD, and QA.

Recommended reading would be the From 50 to 100 locales-thread on mozilla.dev.planning. Yes, it's lengthy, but still.

Agenda

• Highlight some points from the 50-2-100 thread, what do localizers do, really.
• What are the localizable aspects of a feature?
• How does that show in a specification?
• What has Product and BD to do with it?
• How do I go about implementing a new feature?
• How do we get this tested?

One question I'd expect to discuss along all those topics is "How would I find out about it, and who can I poke?", so we should create the appropriate stubs on MDC/wikimo to capture the outcome of the discussion.
