FAQ

Is there special gear for those On-boarding at Mozilla?

In the near future, the People Team will be launching the On-Boarding program at Mozilla. As part of this program, individuals will be given directions on how to obtain an On-boarding package from the Gear Store. This package will include the *essential* Mozilla Gear that will help them get started! Look for more info on this topic from the People Team soon. For any questions, please email onboarding at mozilla dot com.

Where can I go to buy gear for myself and my friends?

During Phase I, gear will be available for such scenarios as recognition and reward, events and team morale. If you would like to purchase t-shirts for personal use (or to give out to friends!), please continue to do so through the Mozilla Foundation.

What are team gear allocations?

Great news! Each team has their own official gear budget for 2013. These "allocations" have been assigned to each team based on the number of paid staff and volunteers on their team. It doesn't sound like fun (or at least to some), but we need be able to track what we spend, when we go over budget, and have the flexibility to get more if needed. Putting paper work aside, it means that all teams have the power to reward and recognize other Mozillians.

How are the these amounts allocated?

Budgets have been assigned to each team based on the number of paid staff and volunteers on their team. For our beta, we determined this by talking to teams, Finance, leveraging the Mozillians phonebook, and by reaching out to Stewards.

Will we have a public store again for fans to buy gear?

We'd like to evalulate some form of this for later in 2013, but our priority is getting gear into the hands of Mozillians.

Do Mozilla Reps use this system to order gear now?

Not at this time. Mozilla Reps are encouraged to rely on their current, well-established method for ordering gear for events and projects. Of course, you can always gift a Mozilla Rep a voucher!

How do volunteers - who aren't Mozilla Reps - request gear for events?

Volunteers who are not Mozilla Reps can still request gear through a Mozilla Rep in their area. When possible, please request gear here at least one month in advance.

What about special orders? I don't see the item I want

If the gear on the store doesn't meet your current needs, you can work with Jennifer (gearteam@mozilla.com) to place a special order with Staples. This includes an item not available on the store or customization work.

I want to help - how can I do that?

We'd love help - everything from items you would like to see added to the store, feedback on functionality, or help coordinating gear in spaces or for teams. Please email gearteam at mozilla dot com if you'd like to help.
