= Common Questions and Answers =

A quick explanation: this page started as a guide to common web analytics questions and answers and proved so handy its scope quickly evolved. I then moved it from the intranet "metrics" domain to this vanity URL within the public Wiki. We'll see how this page evolved further, but for now, it'll serve as a quick reference to all the common questions and answers I receive here at Mozilla.
===
Q: How much traffic does X page get? ===
Answer:
1. Click here: [https://insight.webtrends.com/ https://insight.webtrends.com/] or try skipping to the page report [https://insight.webtrends.com/profiles/iYnXY97G3L6/reports/18d039ae036 here]
2. Select the profile your page lives in ("Mozilla.com" for most, "Product Pages" for What's New and First Run)
3. At the bottom of that page select the "Pages" report
4. Find your page in the list, or search for it using the search bar on the right
5. Note the timeframe - it's best to look at 1 month of data at one time. Also note that the Mozilla.com profile takes a 50% sample, so don't forget to double your data! The Product Pages take a 5% sample, so x20 your data.

=== Q: How many downloads/how much traffic did my program get?
===
Answer:
1. Click here: https://insight.webtrends.com/
2. Click on the "Mozilla.com (50% Sample)" profile
3. Scroll down and select the Campaign Conversions report
4. Find your program. If you can't, try searching for it's name. Click on the "Campaign" Drilldowns to see all the campaigns going at one time.
5. Downloads will be under the "Firefox Downloads" column. Note this is for all versions of Fx. Done!
=== Q: What's our download conversion?
===
Answer:
1. Within the Mozilla.com profile select the "Homepage Version /en-US/firefox/new/" report.
or
1. Open the older On Demand Dashboard here: https://ondemandui.webtrends.com
2. Under "Site Design" select "Single Level Paths" and then "Single Level Paths Forward"
3. Find the landing page you're interested in and see what % of those visitors end up on /products/download, our which is the page that people get on mozilla.com after they hit the "download" button. Does not apply to mozilla-europe site.
Note: Option one shows only entry page visits that end up downloading. Option two shows all visitors who hit a page, then download, regardless of where they started their session.
=== Q: How much traffic is What's New or First Run sending my marketing campaign? ===
Answer: To view referral traffic from our Product Pages, check the profile of the website your promo is sending people to. For example, if there is a promo for Aurora on the What's New page, you'd check the (Mozilla.com 50% sample), which is where the Aurora promo points to.
Within that report view the "Referral by Page URL" report. Find the page your promo is pointing to (in this example it goes to the /channel page), and then click on that page to see it's referring traffic.
=== Q: What Promos will be showing where, when on Mozilla.com? ===
Answer: There are a couple of handy schedules you can check to get these details.
'''What's New: '''Check the [https://docs.google.com/present/edit?id=0AVVEC0HkUTbhZGc0azNyZ2tfMTIxM3RxbnpxcA&hl=en_US&authkey=CPLz4dED What's New Schedule].
'''The First Run:''' page is changed less often and usually has a smaller version of whatever is within the main promo spot on What's New.
'''Snippet Content: '''[https://spreadsheets0.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?authkey=CKf78aIN&hl=en_US&key=t4xF9zp8p0crac4dxtegrtg&hl=en_US&authkey=CKf78aIN#gid=0 See this] for snippet content.
'''Other Mozilla.com Site Content:''' Meaning the Fx user landing page and the download complete page. These pages are usually used to support major engagement launches. For campaigns like that, 1-off specs are created. Contact the program owner and they can provide you that link and/or other details.
=== Q: How do can I track my Engagement campaign?
===
Answer: If you plan to use webtrends tracking codes on your campaigns on even a semi-regular basis, you'll want to know how to track your campaigns in order to measure the affect they have. To learn how to do so, please setup a 1 hour meeting with me. It's best to do this face-to-face.
