Many standards organizations require contributors to make intellectual property rights (IPR) commitments regarding copyrights and patents. These generally need to be made by the company the contributor works for. So this organization is designed to contain people who are paid to work for Mozilla, so that standards development organizations that use GitHub organizations can track who Mozilla's IPR commitment applies to.

The mozilla-standards GitHub organization exists for interactions between Mozilla and standards bodies that use GitHub organizations to track organization-wide IPR commitments.

Ask hsivonen, mt, or tantek to be added. This might become more automated in the future.
