Much smaller area that linked to the last three about:mozilla issues (the link could just be the date instead of the headline and some initial text like it is now).
Number of columns of links would go from 5 to 4 with the removal of Our Causes so the footer design might need to be reviewed (it will probably be reviewed anyway as part of a global IA element).

This could be like the Mozilla Galaxy graphic where we show that there's a larger ecosystem that Firefox and Thunderbird are a part of.

Community Ticker

Expanded area that might not have a set number of slots but rather a space that can fill up as things come in and could even have some options for filtering (View discussions, websites, photos, etc.)

There could also be some static navigation here similar to the Looking for bar at the top of the current page that could direct you to certain sites or direct you to the community directory on mozilla.org.

News

Much smaller area that linked to the last three about:mozilla issues (the link could just be the date instead of the headline and some initial text like it is now).

Footer

Number of columns of links would go from 5 to 4 with the removal of Our Causes so the footer design might need to be reviewed (it will probably be reviewed anyway as part of a global IA element).
