Chinese OEMs are starting to eat the (mobile) world. The common theme over the past week around financial results and shipping volumes is that prices (and, as a result, revenues) are falling, profit margins are reducing, and Chinese mobile products are starting to compete. Why we should care: There was a lot of buzz at MWC around updated chipsets from new rivals at greatly reduced prices, and those seem to be coming true. Android phones are getting cheaper and more powerful, with many OEMs looking to eat into the incumbent space. Many of these new competitors don't offer Google-branded devices (or compete with them directly), and we're starting to see adoption in markets outside of SE Asia.
