We’re excited to be working with CrowdRise on this. The three most recent CrowdRise Challenges have each raised over a million dollars for great causes, and we’ll do everything we can to make this another success story for all involved.

Mozilla & CrowdRise

August 14, 2014

We're excited to announce a new fundraising opportunity exclusively for Hive member organizations. NOTE: Hive KC is brand new, and currently accepting membership, so even if you're not yet a member, you can still participate. The Hive Challenge on CrowdRise is a friendly fundraising competition where organizations that are part of North American Hive communities (hello Kansas City!) can raise money for their own organizations and also compete for additional donations from Mozilla.

Funds raised through this campaign go directly to participating Hive organizations, which means that YOU get to keep what you raise! This is a cross-Hive effort, and is open to Hive organizations from NYC, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Chattanooga, Kansas City, and the Bay Area.

In addition to the money you raise for your organization on CrowdRise, Mozilla is contributing an additional $50,000 in prize funds to a few lucky organizations that participate. There will also be non-cash prize incentives for rallying support for your cause or program.

This is open to all organizations that are part of our Hive KC community with an annual operating budget of less than $5 million.

Hive Challenge Details:

  • The Hive Challenge runs from Oct. 1 through Nov. 3. If you are interested in participating, we encourage you to complete this form to designate your interest. Also start thinking about what you want you want to fundraise for, but you don't need to have those details finalized just yet.
  • Each Hive organization will get their own fundraising page on CrowdRise that will live within the Hive Challenge umbrella campaign. You can visit this link for an example of a current campaign: https://www.crowdrise.com/operationgirl
  • Mozilla will be providing $50,000 in donations via Grand Prizes and weekly Bonus Challenges.
  • You keep any money you raise regardless of whether you win prizes or not.
  • Everyone can win prizes, not just the Hive organizations that raise the most funds.
  • CrowdRise makes this experience fun and easy and wants to help you get the most out of your individual campaign. They provide resources, custom email templates, customer service and help every step of the way.
  • You can raise money for any program or effort, or even for operational costs.
  • Your campaign doesn’t need to be tied to a previously Hive-funded program.
  • Organizations must have an annual operating budget of under 5 million dollars to participate.

The Hive Challenge launches on October 1– if you're interested in participating, please complete this form and we'll be in touch with next steps.
