Maker Party

A Firefox Student Ambassador is there to promote an Open Web and also teach the web! By hosting a Maker Party, or an event using Webmaker tools, you are helping people become more tech savvy and informed. We want to thank you for doing good and reward you with a special FSA Maker Party Badge here.

Before applying, make sure you have written a blog post or created an event report.

Program Levels

We're launching a 3-tiered recognition system. An Ambassador should take the listed steps to reach each tier. These are by no means restrictions, please feel free to go above and beyond!

Application form: Second wave of applications will be reopened in beginning August of 2015.

WHO: A junior is a student who has taken additional steps to spreading the Mozilla Mission! Not only are they active online, they are just as passionate on the ground at their university and in their community. Whether it's hosting events or influencing students in-person to keep the Web open, this Ambassador is making sure his/her voice is heard!

HOWTo become a Junior, you should have:

  • Received the Trainee Badge
    • You will be asked to submit your link to the badge
  • Hosted 1 or attended 2 FSA events
    • Events can be offline (Mozilla Introduction Session, FSA Meetups, FxOS Workshops, etc.) or online (Online Hackathons, etc.)
    • You will be asked to submit proof of attendance to these events. This can easily be done by submitting a link to your blogpost documenting the event or a photo of you there.
  • Created a Mozillians Profile!
    • Submit the link to your profile, make sure it's filled out!
  • Explain how you've made an impact at your university or in your community.
    • For example, have you volunteered somewhere with your Firefox Club? Have you reached out to other student organizations to #TeachtheWeb? Talk about something you did as a Firefox Student Ambassador that helped out students at your university or people in your community.

BENEFITS: Ambassadors who become a junior will receive the special badge, be recognized in our monthly newsletter, and receive a virtual certificate of identification! Depending on countries, juniors will be eligible to be invited to in-person FSA Bootcamps.

WHO: A senior is truly an exceptional student leader. He/she fully embodied the mission to keep the Web open, with whatever resource they have and opportunity they get. He/she hosted/attended several events and have begun helping out in other contribution pathways. A senior is always looking for ways to guide new Ambassadors and welcome new students into the Mozilla community. This here is a Mozillian who is fearless and bold!

HOW:Because a senior is the highest level, we do not have defined steps for you to follow. Applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Here are just general requirements to becoming senior and what we look for:

  • A Club Lead for 6 months or an FSA for 1 year
  • Have connected with and are active in contributing with their local community.
  • Involved in one or more contribution pathways.
    • Such as MDN, SUMO, Localization, Privacy, and more!
  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership and the ability to think outside the box
  • Have a passion for aiding other students and those in their community. As a Senior, you'll be acting as a mentor to younger FSAs!

BENEFITS: Ambassadors who become a senior will receive a special badge, be nominated to become a Regional Ambassador Lead, vouched on Mozillians.org, and receive a special recognition pack with exclusive FSA swag to rock around campus! There will be special impactful projects that Seniors may participate in.

Senior Application to be reviewed as they come. Only those of Junior level will receive the application link.
