Q: I'm seeing a certificates warning and domain name mismatch dialog when running Software Update on the test server.  Is this server secure?
A: Yes, the warning and dialogs are expected because the server isn't configured with the correct cert.  Just grant permission in the dialogs and the update will proceed as expected.  This will not be a problem when update goes "Live" to the public. Please see bug:
