What needs to be done? brainstorming:
- find your profile folder (see below for help)
- identify ics files to keep
- copy them to any folder of your choice (remember/write down folder path!)
- rename the profile folder to something like backup0.2 (I would prefer this step, as it keeps us away from possible profile related problems)
- start sunbird
- decide whether to use storage (faster) or ics-file (can be shared over the network, e.g. used by yourself from different computers on the network)
- either import ics files into a local Calendar (default: Home) using File | Import
- or subscribe to your ics file using File | Subscribe to Remote Calendar, check On the Network, press Next and enter file://path to your file/file.ics.

Sunbird stores your user data in one of the following locations:
- Windows 2000, XP
- Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application Data\Mozilla\Sunbird
- Mac OS X
- ~/Library/Application Support/Sunbird
- Linux and Unix systems
- ~/.mozilla/sunbird
