Revision as of 12:20, 4 November 2011
At the Festival 2011 venue, I was able to connect to eduroam easily using my Nexus S, iPad, and iPhone, but my Mac had major problems, as did at least one other person I helped out. In case you have them too:
- Go to "System Preferences" then click "Network"
- Select "AirPort"
- Select the "eduroam" network. If it asks for username/password etc, enter that info w/ credentials from the back of your festival badge.
- There should be a drop-down that says "802.1X", and it should say "WPA: eduroam" on it. If it doesn't, select "WPA: eduroam" from that menu if it's on there. If it's not on there, um, try connecting to eduroam again and your computer should make it for you.
- Now click "Advanced" and go to the "802.1X" tab. Select "WPA: eduroam" (if there are multiple "WPA: eduroam" entries, remove all but one using the "-" button at the bottom-left of the dialog).
- Under "Authentication" make sure that *only* PEAP is enabled. All the other checkboxes should be empty.
- Click "OK". Then you should be back at the network preferences; click "Connect" and it should connect. Cross your fingers!
Other Notes
- Some badges have the wrong password on them. If you get a message telling you that your credentials may be incorrect, try using the username RGuest012@rave.ac.uk and the password 83aVB1uh.
- The eduroam network should use WPA2 Enterprise security. Don't set it to anything else!
