Please visit the Mozilla Gear Store
This wiki has information about how to order gear and who to contact for more information.
Overview
In the past, Mozilla-related gear was hard to come by. The process for getting it wasn't clear, and people ordered from a variety of sources, meaning there wasn't much consistency in the way things looked or the quality of the items. In other words, not good for the brand. Plus, the previous process (or lack of it) made it hard to even track how much was being spent on gear across the organization.
To fix these issues and generally make everyone's lives a little easier, we've updated the gear process at Mozilla. For one thing, there's now a dedicated site where you can get shirts, hats, bags, etc, as well as special order items. We've also consolidated our operations around a single vendor (Staples), and allocated specific gear budgets for each team.
This means you're all empowered to both reward other Mozillians with gear and use it to be strong advocates for our brand. And remember, this isn’t typical “corporate" swag — it’s a statement of your dedication to building a better Web. It's also valuable — and we don’t just mean that in a monetary sense (though we do have some pretty cool stuff!). It tells others that you're part of the Mozilla community and serves as recognition of all of your hard work. (Which, by the way, is why we're using the term 'gear' rather than 'merch' or 'swag'...those words imply the types of throwaway items you'd get at a trade show or event. We want our stuff to have more meaning than that.)
This is just the first phase of our roll out, so stay tuned for more! If you have any questions, please email gearteam at mozilla dot com.
How to Get and Give Gear
1. Log-on to the Gear Store and request gear (see here for gear types). For information on the exact steps to order gear online, please see here.
2. If you need the gear within the week, please request gear from your Mozilla Space. Directions on how to request gear from your space can be found here.
3. Want to extend the opportunity for a volunteer contributor on your team to receive gear? Please contact your team's Gear Coordinator for a gear voucher. More information on vouchers can be found here.
4. If you would like to purchase gear, please do so through the Foundation.
Access
If you have a mozilla.com email address, please use it to log in to the Mozilla Gear Store. From there you can order gear as long as your needs fit within the guidelines outlined on our website and are in within your team's budget.
Mozillians without mozilla.com addresses are also eligible to use the store, but will need to acquire a special voucher code in order to log in. Please contact your team's Gear Coordinator to get such a code.
Inappropriate Site Usage
- The Gear Store isn't for personal use (in other words, ordering shirts for your team as a morale booster is ok...ordering a shirt just because you want one for yourself isn't).
- Don't order gear without a specific purpose or objective in mind - think about why your team might need, it what purpose it would serve at an event, etc.
- Don't order more than you need, and don't stockpile.
- Don't order gear for those who are not paid staff + Mozillians + friendly visitors + attendees at Mozilla events.
