Proposal

Title of Session: Add-on Localization

Facilitator(s): Andrew Williamson

Are you paid or volunteer staff?: Paid

Area of Contribution: Add-ons

How are you currently involved with the community?:

...

Location of Work: Sheffield, UK

Talk Length (please choose between 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes): 60 minutes

Summary:

This talk will give participants a primer in how add-on localization works, how they can use Babelzilla to translate add-ons, and other ways they can push add-on localization forward.

How your session furthers the MozCamp Goals:

This talk is meant to promote add-on localization in Asia, and increase participation in Babelzilla, the central localization community. It will also give localizers a general idea of how they can create add-on localizations they can distribute on their own.

Expected Outcome or Deliverable:

Participants will learn how to use Babelzilla to localize existing add-ons. They will learn how add-ons are localized and what is coming in the future (with the Add-ons SDK). They will also learn how to create localized versions of add-ons even if their original developers are unresponsive.

Desired Audience Type or Skill-set:

Anyone interested in localization or add-ons is welcome to join.

Equipment Needs (Video projector already included):
