Whilst it is most certainly bad practice to use full/external links to wiki.m.o pages, there are some usecases where it is a reasonable option. This is where the page is also used elsewhere - either on another site or in an email. As such the use of non-relative links can help. For this reason, the present  'm' is rather obtrusive and could be usefully a bit smaller / not in bold (use colour instead?) : FYI, for valid usecases (e.g. the confirmed user template), you can wrap the link in <code><nowiki><span class="plainlinks"></span></nowiki></code> (or otherwise attach the '<code>plainlinks</code>' class) to remove the link style. <span style="font-size: 110%;">&mdash;'''[[User:GPHemsley|Gordon P. "Add Mozilla icon to wiki links to discourage bad practice"

Whilst it is most certainly bad practice to use full/external links to wiki.m.o pages, there are some usecases where it is a reasonable option. This is where the page is also used elsewhere - either on another site or in an email. As such the use of non-relative links can help. For this reason, the present 'm' is rather obtrusive and could be usefully a bit smaller / not in bold (use colour instead?) I've made a slight change in size as a test.--AlisonW (talk) 11:25, 14 April 2014 (PDT)

FYI, for valid usecases (e.g. the confirmed user template), you can wrap the link in <span class="plainlinks"></span> (or otherwise attach the 'plainlinks' class) to remove the link style. Gordon P. Hemsley 07:01, 15 April 2014 (PDT)
