Query the top plugins supported for the web, and verify they are compatible with Firefox 3.1. See AMO list for recommended plugins.

- On a clean environment, install plugins
- Test updating of old plugins
- Disable plugins in Addons Manager, verify plugins stop working
- Uninstall plugins, verify websites request a plugin to download

- On Linux, use vlc plugin. A test clip is available.

- RealPlayer 10 crashes under Firefox 3 - Bug 421381
- BBC iPlayer
- Known issue: bug 418052 – Firefox 3.0b4pre hangs starting BBC iplayer
- On Linux, use vlc plugin for WMV. Browser detection will often block it though.

- Viewpoint Media Player plugin
- Linux - N/A (not supported)
- Mac OS X:
- Filed bug 421026 on the Viewpoint plugin for Mac, and requested blocking for Firefox 3

- Silverlight: PASS
- VMP: NOT SUPPORTED ON 3.x, PASS
- iPIX: FAIL
- investigation ongoing: multiple sites do not respond to iPIX viewer enable/disable, but do respond to Java enable/disable. One other pushes a Java console error exception
