Open Web Applications depend on the performance and features of modern web browsers. In this context, 'modern' means supporting at least the following features:

Consistent and W3C standard web page rendering
Support for advanced HTML5 and CSS3
Fast JavaScript performance

Examples of these are the latest versions of Google's Chrome, Mozilla's Firefox, and Apple's Safari.
