Release Management/FirefoxOS/2 2 Schedule

[This page is still WIP and not final] This schedule should help outline keydates and milestones for Firefox OS 2.0. Please reach out to bbajaj@mozilla.com for questions or conflict's you may find.

Key milestones and Target Dates

• Dev start: Nov 24 2014 (Development happens on m-c and gaia-master)
• Feature Landing Readiness (FLR) : Feb 09 2015
• Feature Landing (FL) : Feb 23 2015
• Feature Complete (FC) : Apr 06 2015
• Code Complete (CC) : May 18 2015

Detailed Sprint schedule

• Sprint 1: (2014/11/24 - 2014/12/05)
• Sprint 2: (2014/12/08 - 2014/12/19)
• Sprint 3: (2014/12/22 - 2015/01/09)
• Sprint 4: (2015/01/12 - 2015/01/23)
• Sprint 5: (2015/12/26 - 2015/02/06)
• FLR (Feature Landing Readiness): 2015/02/09
  • We expect all features to be completed by this milestone and leave the last sprint for final QA testing, bug fixes or any exceptions made for any features which may be needed for the release
• Sprint 6: (2015/02/09 - 2015/02/20)
• FL (Feature Landing) and Stabilization begins: 2015/02/23
  • No new feature landings post the FL date, unless you have an approval from Release Management
  • String Freeze. We expect majority of strings to land by this date. Any exceptions will need to be approved by Localization team and the bug should be keyworded with late-l10n
  • 2015/02/23 Gaia v2.0 created, Gecko 38- > mozilla-aurora
• Sprint 7: (2015/02/23 - 2015/03/06)
  • Any remaining string changes that have been granted exceptions, i.e bugs that have late-l10n keyword should be landed by 2015/03/06. No String changes beyond this point
• Sprint 8: (2015/03/09 - 2015/03/20)
• Sprint 9: (2015/03/23 - 2015/04/03)
• FC (Feature Complete): 2015/04/06
  • Platform code is separated from desktop/mobile and mozilla-b2g38_v2_2 created
  • Apr 3rd - End of granting gaia approvals for non-blockers (approval-gaia-v2.2). The bar will be raised really high on approvals after this point in case exceptions need to be made
• 2015/04/06 - 2015/05/18 (6 weeks)
  • Fix any remaining blockers that may be found by QA or chipset vendor partner testing
• Sprint 10: (2015/04/06 - 2015/04/17)
• Sprint 11: (2015/04/20 - 2015/05/01)
• Sprint 12: (2015/05/04 - 2015/05/15)
  • May 18 - Mozilla Code Complete for 2.0
