How can I volunteer?

Host an event!

The primary way for anyone to participate in the Summer Code Party is to host an event, big or small. Get started at webmaker.org. Read on for more ways to help out -- and add your name to this etherpad if you want to volunteer: https://etherpad.mozilla.org/scp-vol-signup

Support other hosts

We want to make sure event hosts are supported -- wherever they are, and however they might get in touch with us. So here's what we need people to help with:

  • Watch main Facebook group @ answer Q's
  • Watch Facebook comments on @Mozilla & answer Q's
  • Watch joinmozilla & mozparty email inboxes to answer Q's
  • Watch @Mozilla and @Mozthimble twitter mentions for questions/concerns
  • Watch #MozParty & #MozHelp & #Mozthimble hashtags for Q's/problems
  • Watch IRC channel we set (#MozParty) for Q's
  • Wiki gardening the FAQs

Storytelling

A huge part of making everyone feel as good as possible about the weekend is telling the full story of all that happened. We'll be using ScribbleLive to help (also for some of the support channels), but here's what we think would be awesome to get some more eyeballs on:

  • Submit content to webmaker tumblr (http://mozillawebmaker.tumblr.com/, though not yet launched)
  • Find & surface awesome creations/content from:
    • Facebook group and comments on @Mozilla
    • #MozParty & @mozilla mentions on twitter
    • IRC Channel
  • Flag innapropriate content

So what are you waiting for? Add your name here next to what you want to do: https://etherpad.mozilla.org/scp-vol-signup
