MozillaQualityAssurance:l10n checklist
For further information on localization, please visit the L10n wiki. For further information on MoFo QA, please visit our QA wiki.
Below are quick checklists when certifying localized builds for release. It's important to note that such certification does not include the following, due to limited resources:
- quality of translation
- coverage of every string throughout the UI
- behavior/functionality of everything
For Firefox
- installation, new profile, migration
- default homepage to Google start page for new profiles
- search bar: Google and Yahoo (unless otherwise approved by Marketing) must be listed 1st and 2nd, respectively
- About dialog: date, version
- Help window should appear, although not necessarily localized
- Themes / Extensions dlg (just ensure they appear, with Themes listing the default)
- Bookmarks: NO "crew picks"! But other locale-specific ones are acceptable
- sidebar: history / bookmarks
- go to another webpage
- Preferences/Options window
- view source
- quickly go through menu items and/or couple of context menus
- find toolbar
- check about:config for app.update.url string: it should point to <locale>.rdf, not en-US.rdf
- check for Talkback, located under <install_location>/components/talkback/
For Thunderbird
- installation, new profile, migration
- all basic windows:
- main 3pane
- mail compose
- mail standalone
- view source
- address book; also check AB card dialog
- About dlg: date, version
- Account Central: appears in the right pane when an account is selected from the folder pane
- default mail start page (new profiles): localizers can translate the content and point to localized content where appropriate, but using the en-US content and links is acceptable
- Help window
- Themes / Extensions dialogs: just ensure they appear, with Themes listing the default theme
- Mail Account Settings dialog
- Preferences/Options window
- quickly view menu items and/or couple of context menus
- check for Talkback
