Summit2013
2013 Mozilla Summit: October 4 - 6, Paris, France / San Francisco, CA / Toronto, ON
The Mozilla Summit is an assembly of, well, Mozillians, all coming together for three-days of inspiration, connection, and purpose. Participants will include paid staff from Mozilla Corp. and Mozilla Foundation (about 800), core volunteers (about 1,400), select Mozilla partners (5-10), and available Mozilla Board Members. Leveraging the content planning work that will emerge from a Summit Planning Assembly in June, the Summit will take place over the course of three days (in three regionally diverse cities) this fall.
The Summit Planning Assembly is a gathering of global delegates (25-30) nominated to represent their regional and functional areas to lay the groundwork that is necessary for the successful execution of the Summit in October. This event is scheduled for June 14-16th at the Mozilla Paris Space in France.
Purpose
Since the last Mozilla Summit (2010), over 700 paid staff and thousands of volunteers have joined our ranks. We’ve also launched Firefox OS, a new kind of product that will play a defining role in the future of the Project.
Rapid growth and big change have created an opportunity (and a need) for the whole Mozilla organism to come together. Aligning on our past, present and future state will enable us to have the greatest possible impact on the open Web. The Mozilla Summit will act as the catalyst for this work.
Specifically, the purpose of the Mozilla Summit is to:
- Celebrate and reflect on all that we have accomplished
- Align on who we are now, who we want to be going forward, and where we’re headed as a Project
- Reinvigorate and reinvent the ways we work together as a growing, complex, globally diverse organization
We will use a multi-city model for our event to reflect the complex global nature of Mozilla. We will also use this event as a platform to develop, hack, and test tools that enable the shared experience and global collaboration vital to our future success.
The specific structure of the Summit (content/agenda) will be determined as part of the Summit Planning Assembly in June.
