2008 Firefox Summit
The 2008 Firefox Summit is an invitation-only gathering of some of the most active contributors in the Mozilla community. The purpose is to discuss the future of Firefox. If you have any questions, please e-mail summit2008@mozilla.com.

Date & Location

The summit will take place in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada at the Westin Whistler Resort & Spa from July 28th to August 1st, 2008.

Invitees & Costs

Invitees have been selected by Mozilla community leaders and will be contacted by e-mail during the first two weeks of May. Invitees were selected based on their contributions to Firefox 3 and the Mozilla Project over the past 18 months.

Most invitees will be fully-sponsored with Mozilla covering costs associated with travel to the summit, as well as food and lodging during the week. Mozilla may ask some invitees to seek sponsorship from their employers.

Agenda & Sessions

FAQ

How will travel arrangements be made?

Registered invitees will be contacted by a travel agency who will book their travel to Vancouver. From there, invitees will be taken by bus along the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler.

Do I need a passport or a visa?

Non-Canadian invitees will require a passport to travel to Canada, and invitees from some countries may require a visa. Mozilla will provide an Invitation Letter for the summit and additional information to assist with visas as required, but the costs of obtaining a passport and visa will be the responsibility of the invitee.

What should I bring?

  • Clothing: During the summer months, Whistler will be quite warm, with average high/low temperatures of 22°C/8°C (72°F/46°F). Dressing in layers is recommended, as is having sweaters or jackets for the evenings.
  • Gadgets: The hotel will have wireless internet access, so feel free to bring your laptop along. Canada uses standard North American Type A and Type B plugs and sockets at 120V, 60Hz. Whistler is gorgeous, so digital cameras are also recommended.
  • Money: Canadian and American currency is accepted pretty much anywhere in Whistler. There are automatic teller machines which should have no problem drawing Canadian funds from international bank accounts.
