Open issues/risks

`

Stage 1: Definition

1. Feature overview

Mozilla and the Firebug team were able to work together to ensure that Firefox 4 and a compatible version of Firebug (1.7) were available on the same day. Since Firebug 1.7's release, a small number of new crashing bugs and regressions have been found, some Firebug users have complained about memory usage and Firebug has been noted as the add-on that has the most impact on Firefox startup performance.

Just as we worked to get Firefox 4 and Firebug 1.7 out together, the next step is to ensure that Firebug can provide a stable experience that does not slow down Firefox.

2. Users & use cases

`

3. Dependencies

`

4. Requirements

  • Significant crashing/regression bugs in the platform fixed
  • Known memory leaks plugged
  • Firebug impact on startup performance reduced to less than 40% slower (from its current 75% slower score)
