Open issues/risks

`

Stage 1: Definition

1. Feature overview

The purpose of this project is to create a modal (but beautiful) dialog box that will prompt users on Nightly / Aurora / Beta to ask if they would like to opt in to telemetry and send anonymous performance data about Firefox. Modal dialogs are interuptive and anoying, but this data is important, and we aren't considering one for the mainstream product, just testing builds.

For context, the current notification bar approach is only generating around a 2% opt-in, which isn't generating enough data.

2. Users & use cases

user: trying out a test build of Firefox (nightly, aurora, beta) use case: see a dialog asking you to opt in to sending performance data, and deciding that it sounds like a fantastic idea!

3. Dependencies

`

4. Requirements

If we are going to intrupt the user, we need to at least show them some good artwork, this dialog box requires some Sean Martell artwork.

Stage 4: Development

9. Implementation

Working with privacy and legal to enable Telemetry by default on Nightly and Aurora channels. This will eliminate the need to have a dialog on those channels. Details in bug 699806.
