: The sort of power law distribution that you describe is perfectly natural in this instance. Fighting against it by "never" sorting by "download numbers" is counterproductive, and it's an oversimplification to say that once someone is lucky enough to get into the top five they are going to stay there. In my mind the two problems are 1) a lot of the most downloaded have a surprisingly high (and consistent) level of downloads, leading me to suspect that they are gaming the system and 2) the sorting by rating is far too simplistic, as has already been stated. | |||
