Development Updates

Fx 2.0.0.16 / Fx 3.0.1 / TB 2.0.0.16

On track for shipping Firefox 2.0.0.16 tomorrow afternoon. Please let us know if there is any reason not to.

Also on track for shipping Firefox 3.0.1 Wednesday afternoon. We're seeing issues with a few extensions which aren't using a proper maxversion (i.e. "3.0" instead of "3.0.*"). Polvi's working with extension developers to get them updated.

Thunderbird 2.0.0.16 is almost ready for the beta channel. QA is aiming for completion and beta channel this coming Wednesday, likely before Firefox 3.0.1 ships.

TB 3

• 3.0a2 frozen; we _think_ we're ready to cut a branch, but our Mac builds are having issues, and we still need one to verify. Hopefully we'll get that sorted out today.

Gecko 1.9.1

  • Writing an article for OSBR about Mozilla accessibility, mostly reusing and enhancing Accessibility - Where are we today?. This will be finished this week.

Mozilla Community Calendar

Deb's putting together a comprehensive list of weekly/regular public project meetings and other events. Wiki page for it is here: http://wiki.mozilla.org/Community_Calendar . When Deb sorts out how/where to do it, the list will also (hopefully) be published as a public shared calendar that folks can subscribe to. Please check the wiki page and make changes/additions as necessary.

New about-mozilla weblog!

We're introducing a new weblog to the Mozillaverse that is a companion to the about:mozilla newsletter. Unsurprisingly, it's called the about:mozilla weblog. It is here: http://blog.mozilla.com/about_mozilla/

So, how are the newsletter and weblog related? Essentially, anything that ends up in the newsletter will be on the weblog first, but not everything on the weblog will end up in the newsletter. So, the weblog is a slightly higher-volume stream of news that is updated (more or less) daily, and the newsletter is a weekly publication of the week's highlights from the weblog. Deb will be blogging about this in more detail shortly.

Selectors API Test Suite

John constructed a comprehensive W3C Selectors API test suite to be used by the various browser vendors (includes about 4200 tests). It's currently being used by Mozilla, WebKit, and Opera to test their individual implementations. Our implementation is currently about 91% passing and is slated for a Gecko 1.9.1 introduction.
