What is the new SeaMonkey official name?

The new name is SeaMonkey. Please consult the Branding Page for more information on this.

What version numbers will be used for the new releases?

The first version is 1.0 to distinguish the difference between the officially supported Mozilla Application Suite 1.7.x and the new community-supported SeaMonkey suite. This has been done for the benefit of our business users who will need to make an informed decision about upgrade paths.
The second version is 1.1 and a feature update to 1.0. The third version is currently expected to be 2.0.

Where do I download SeaMonkey?

As the SeaMonkey Suite is a Mozilla Foundation project, SeaMonkey builds and release notes are available on the SeaMonkey Project page on mozilla.org.

Where can I find more information about SeaMonkey?

The MozillaZine Knowledge Base has lots of information about SeaMonkey. Most of the information there about the Mozilla Application Suite still applies to SeaMonkey.

How do I get support for SeaMonkey?

Support is available from the MozillaZine SeaMonkey Support forum, the mozilla.support.seamonkey newsgroup, and the #mozillazine IRC Channel.

What are the differences between SeaMonkey 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0?

SeaMonkey 1.0 was released off the 1.8.0 branch like Firefox 1.5.0.1. SeaMonkey 1.1 was released off the 1.8.1 branch like Firefox 2. SeaMonkey 2.0 will be released off the 1.9 branch, which is expected to branch off the current 1.9 trunk in 2008. See the Global:1.9 Trunk 1.8 Branch Plan for a graphical depiction of the trunk and branches and a description of what development work will occur on the trunk and branches.

Where can I go for news about the SeaMonkey project?

The SeaMonkey Project News page and the SeaMonkey Blog and SeaMonkey QA Blog are good resources for the latest SeaMonkey news. You can also wade through the SeaMonkey IRC logs for the latest goings-on. For developers, a good news source is the mozilla.dev.apps.seamonkey newsgroup.

What can I do to help the project?

There's plenty of quality assurance work to be done. Grab a nightly build and join in!
